The Science

Why MSC injection works. And when it doesn't.

Mesenchymal stem cells derived from Wharton's Jelly — the gelatinous tissue of the umbilical cord — are the highest anti-inflammatory potency MSC available. When injected into a degenerated joint under image guidance, they secrete paracrine factors that modulate the inflammatory environment, support cartilage-forming cells, and reduce the pro-inflammatory cytokines that drive ongoing degeneration.

The evidence is strongest for Grade 1-3 osteoarthritis. For Grade 4 — bone on bone — surgery remains the better-evidenced option for most patients. We will tell you which category you fall into and give you an honest recommendation, even if that recommendation is surgery.
